As Chief Investment Officer and Chair of the Investment Committee, Lane sets the firm’s overall investment direction and strategic portfolio asset allocation. He also oversees manager selection, due diligence, and research across all asset classes, including Public Equity, Private Equity, Independent Return, Fixed Income, and other Private Investments.

Experience
- Three decades of experience in the investment management industry
- Former President & CIO, FMR Diversified Investments, managing all investments for the owners of Fidelity Investments across public and private equity, natural resources, real estate, and absolute return strategies
- Senior leadership roles at Harvard Management Company, including leading the Private Equity team and Public Market Team, overseeing a large portion of the endowment
- Spent 13 years in private equity at Alta Communications, J.W. Childs Associates, and BancBoston Capital, focusing on growth equity and buyouts

Beyond SCS
Lane enjoys spending time with his wife and children and staying active, including playing hockey twice a week with former teammates and friends. He also loves traveling to watch his college-age children compete. Lane’s philanthropic activities include supporting several non-profits, including the Harvard Varsity Club, the Noble and Greenough School, and the USA Hockey Foundation.
